The salty dreams

Buena Onda

Although we wanted to escape Switzerland for a few weeks, we settled in a beach resort in playa Santana, runned by swiss expats. A few things you shouldn’t miss while staying at Buena Onda Beach Resort:

  • Surfing the punchy beachbreak just in front of the camp called Playa Santana and get barreled. Also don’t miss to surf the world famous Popoyo wave.
  • Do horseback riding with the local cowboy Fabio. Fabio is the real Nicaraguan (non-smoking) Marlboro-Man who introduced us into horseback riding (solamente en español). The horses are in such good shape that we galloped along the whole beach and scared all the surfers.
  • If the waves aren’t that good, you can still improve your turns by skateboarding the miniramp right on the beach. But watch out, nobody can surf barrels with a broken arm…

Free advice: if you go there, bring everything you need with you. The attempt to get toothpaste and suncream ended in a 30 minutes tuktuk-drive.
